The swans on Horsefly Lake are getting the last feeding before the ice closes in.
See how they dip right down to eat off the bottom. They have a good layers of fat and down
feathers but it is amazing they can take that much cold. The temperature is – 15C when
photos taken. After the lake freezes right over they move down into areas of Little Horsefly
River that rarely freeze. The grey ones are the juveniles, born in the spring. They will be
white next year.
